Tristan is the principal of the firm and has been in legal practice since his admission as an Advocate and Solicitor in 2016.

Tristan’s practice is in dispute resolution, where he has extensive experience representing clients in Court and advising clients across diverse legal areas, including Employment Law, Commercial Law, Corporate Disputes, Corporate Restructuring & Insolvency, Construction Law and Defamation.

Tristan also advises clients on employment related matters in the life cycle of a company such as drafting of employment handbooks, managing dismissal of employees and separation schemes.

Tristan is committed to understanding his clients’ unique challenges and crafting practical solutions to resolve their legal problems efficiently in line with their objectives.

Among matters which Tristan has handled are:

Employment Law

• Acted for an employee in the Industrial Court who was dismissed on the grounds of retrenchment.
• Acted for a society in the Industrial Court when its employees claimed unfair dismissal in view of the society being deregistered.
• Assisted counsel in an unfair dismissal claim where the employee was dismissed on the grounds of misconduct due to lackadaisical attitude.
• Advised companies on  changing of leaves in compliance with the Employment Act.
• Advised employees on Mutual Separation Scheme.
• Preparing clients for the hearing at a Labour Court pertaining to non-payment of notice in lieu of termination and purported misconduct.

Contractual / Commercial Disputes

• Successfully set aside a judgment-in-default and subsequently obtained judgment after trial for a sub-contractor for construction work they had done.
• Represented a printing company in a claim under the Sales of Goods Act 1957.

Construction Disputes

• Successfully defended a developer in a claim made by its main-contractor under the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012.
• Acted for a successful party in an adjudication to enforce the adjudication award and defending an application to set aside the adjudication award.
• Assisted in a PAM Arbitration relating to a claim for liquidated damages under a PAM Contract.

Corporate Disputes & Restructuring

• Successfully obtained a judicial management order for a developer company.
• Successfully resisted an application for judicial management filed by an unsecured creditor of a company.
• Represented shareholders and companies in minority oppression suits.
• Represented clients in petitions to wind-up companies under the just and equitable rule.

Defamation

• Acted for a well known individual in two defamation suits for words uttered against him in public.
• Successfully struck out a claim of slander which was not compliant with the pre-requisite rules.

Administrative Law

• Acted for a house owner in a judicial review to challenge the decision of the Strata Management Tribunal.
• Acted for a society in a judicial review to challenge the decision of the Registrar of Societies in de-registering the society.

Other matters

• Acted for proprietors in challenging the forfeiture of land by the Land Office.
• Acted for companies in recovering payment for goods sold and delivered.
• Acted for applicants in an application for grant of probate or administration.
• Advised and acted for proprietors, joint management bodies or joint management corporations under the Strata Management Act.
• Advised and acted in landlord and tenant related disputes such as recovery of arrears and possession.
